Get started

Overlay is a workspace where people and AI agents work side by side. You track work as tasks, talk to agents and teammates in chats, keep files and notes together, and let automations run on a schedule.

Sign up

1. Go to getoverlay.io and choose Get started.
2. Sign up with your email, or with one of the sign-in buttons on the page. If you use email, enter the code we send you.
3. Create a workspace, or join one you were invited to. You can rename a workspace later from Settings → Workspace.

You land on Work, the home page.

Find your way around

The sidebar has the same sections everywhere: Files and Extensions sit under More in the sidebar. Your account, workspace and preferences are in Settings, from the menu at the bottom of the sidebar.

Personal and Workspace

Every workspace has two sides, and the toggle at the top of the sidebar switches between them:

• Personal is yours alone. Chats, files, notes, skills and automations you create here are private, even from workspace admins’ searches.
• Workspace is shared with everyone in the workspace.

You can move an item between the two from its menu, and archive it from the same place. While you are the only person in a workspace, Overlay hides the split; everything you make stays private until you choose to share it.

Invite your team

1. Open Settings → Workspace → People.
2. Choose Invite people and enter their email addresses.
3. Pick a role: Admin or Member. Use Guests for someone who should see only what you share with them.

Invited people get an email and join on sign-up. A person can own up to three workspaces and belong to as many as they are invited to.
