# FAQ

> Frequently asked questions for Overlay users.

## How is my data used?

Your messages, memories, knowledge, and files are scoped to your account and project. Overlay does not use your data to train models. Provider-specific controls are configured by your admin.

## Why did the model not use my knowledge?

* Make sure the file is indexed. Large files may take a few moments.
* Ask a specific question and reference the file or memory.
* Check that the project is selected.

## How do I delete a memory?

Open the **Memory** panel, click the memory, and select **Delete**.

## Can I export my data?

Contact your admin or support for data export. Self-hosted deployments can use the backend export tools.

## Why is a feature missing?

Your deployment may have disabled the feature through capabilities. Contact your admin for features such as billing, webhooks, API keys, or vector search.

## Who can see my files?

Files are visible to you and members of the project they belong to. Storage is scoped to your workspace.
